HOUSTON, TX — On Monday, August 26, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. CT, the Time To Care Coalition and the Center For Pursuit will host a press conference highlighting new data underscoring the extent of the workforce crisis impacting direct support professionals (DSPs) who serve Texans with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Leaders from local and state organizations will speak to the crisis impacting community-based IDD service providers and send a message to the Texas Legislature on the urgent need to act to ensure the most vulnerable Texans are not left behind.
The press conference will be held ahead of the Texas House Committee on Human Services interim hearing on Tuesday, August 27th, during which legislators will discuss the effects of inflation on the cost of services, and availability of services to Texans with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
